Missing elderly woman in Thinadhoo found, being treated in ICU

The missing elderly woman in GDh. Thinadhoo has been found – following which she is currently being treated at the island’s Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

She was identified as Hawwafaanu (Hawwahantha), 80, Custardge, GDh. Thinadhoo.

Speaking to Sun, a member of Thinadhoo Council Aminath Naseema said that Hawwahantha was found fallen, and unconscious inside a vacant house, with some wounds to the forehead.

“Likely the injuries were sustained when she fell,” she added.

Naseema said that Hawwahantha was found by a group of people that participated in the search who were linked by familial relations.

Search efforts commenced for Hawwahantha as she did not returned home for Magrib prayer from her usual evening walk after Asr Prayer.

“She always takes walks alone. Search efforts commenced today as she had not returned home for Magrib prayer as usual,” Naseema had said in an earlier statement to Sun.
