A man from Fuvahmulah City sentenced to prison for the sexual abuse of two local teenage girls earlier this month has been transferred to home confinement.
Ahmed Asim, Gift, Funaadu, Fuvahmulah City; Mohamed Hussain, Nika, Funaadu, Fuvahmulah City; and Abdulla Farhad, Leena, Miskiymagu, Fuvahmulah City, were found guilty of the sexual abuse of two teenage girls on August 7.
All three were charged with unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
The men were accused of abusing the victims - a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl - on multiple occasions.
The Criminal Court sentenced them to 10 years in prison.
However, one of the convicts, Farhad, has now been transferred to home confinement.
According to the court order for his transfer, of which Sun has received a copy, Farhad was transferred to home confinement for the period of one month on grounds of poor health.
Farhad is a prominent MDP activist in Fuvahmulah City.
