Former Fuvahmulah Funaadu Council’s president Ali Waseem has passed away on Monday, after a heart attack.
A family member of Waseem who spoke to Sun said that Waseem had a heart attack this afternoon whilst preparing to eat lunch.
“He came home at around 1:00pm and inquired about his child as well,” the family member detailed.
The family member recalled attending to Waseem upon hearing him have difficulties in breathing
“When we had given CPR at our home, he was responding somewhat. It is not confirmed whether he has already passed away when he was taken to the hospital,” the family member added.
Speaking further, the family member said at the time of Waseem’s death, he was suffering from a flu. It was also noted that Waseem suffers from cardiological problem – having previously done an angioplasty.
Waseem was appointed at Funaadu Council’s president during former president Mohamed Nasheed’s administration.
He had also worked in the tourism sector.
