MFDA cautions against fake thyroid medicine

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) cautioned against fake Thyroid medicine after it has been found in India. 

In a statement addressing the situation, FDA stated that India's Telangana Drug Control Administration was alerted of a fake product medicine Thyronorm 100 mcg produced by Acme Generics LLT being found. 

Moreover, FDA shared details of the fake product and stressed that importing it to Maldives was banned. 

In addition to this, as a precaution, FDA will be testing samples of the medicine in the Maldivian market and would be checking for counterfeit products at the port of entry.
