Jumhoory Party’s leader, Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim has condemned India’s ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Spokesperson’s slander of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Via a tweet this morning, Qasim stressed that BJP’s National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s derogatory remarks, insulting Prophet Muhammad deeply hurt the sentiments of billions of Muslims across the world including himself. He added that Jumhoory Party, alongside himself, strongly condemn that act.

BJP’s National Spokesperson Sharma’s remarks were condemned by Adhaalath Party as well.

In a statement released last night, Adhaalath Party said that making untrue statements regarding the Prophet’s marriages and slandering his name was an act against the whole Muslim Ummah.

They further stressed that no Muslim would tolerate slander of Islam and Prophet Muhammad who has garnered the hearts of millions of Muslims as well as individuals from other religions in defiance of international treaties executed.

Many foreign relations bodies of Islamic countries had summoned Indian ambassadors – handing over official documents denouncing the remarks made by Sharma and demanding apologies from the Indian government and BJP. These countries include Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabiya, Kuwait and Oman.
