A biography written on the life of Jumhoory Party (JP)’s leader, Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim was released last night.
The biography, written by renowned journalist and writer Mohamed Jameel, was released during a special ceremony held at Villa College last night.
The biography was launched by the guest of honor and recipient of the Order of Nishan Izzudin, Ilyas Ibrahim.
The ceremony also saw the launching of biography’s audio recording and website. The biography was narrated by SS Media’s CEO Mohamed Asif (Mondhu), a veteran in the field of media.
The ceremony was graced former presidents Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik in addition to senior government officials and veterans from various fields.
The biography is a hard cover print containing over 800 pages including photos. The biography dives into Qasim’s life, including the challenges he has faced, his successes and failures, services, businesses, social works, politics and personal life.
Qasim served as the Speaker of the People’s Special Majilis that undertook efforts to formulate the Maldives's current constitution, which introduced democracy to the country.
He has contested in the presidential elections held in 2008, 2013 and 2023. Most presidential elections held in the Maldives since 2008 have been succeeded by candidates endorsed by Qasim.
