Convict who escaped Asseyri Prison this morning apprehended

A convict who escaped K. Himmafushi Assyeri Prison this morning has been apprehended tonight.

Maldives Correctional Service said that a special operation was launched in collaboration with Maldives Police Service prompted by the escape of a convict at Assery Prison – during which the escapee has been apprehended.

Sun has learned that the escapee was a male convict who had been serving jail time in connection to a case of intimidation.

However, Corrections have not disclosed any details regarding the convict in question.
