Police seek new recruits for Special Constabulary

Maldives Police Service has reopened applications for the position of Special Constabulary Constable.

The police had originally opened applications for vacancies at the Special Constabulary back in February. However, the announcement failed to secure enough applications.

The police have now reopened applications for the position.

According to the announcement posted on the Government Gazette on Sunday, candidates who submitted applications back in February will not need to reapply.

The monthly salary for the position is MVR 11,421.

Basic requirements include being between the age of 18 to 30 years, a minimum height of 5’3” for males and 5’ for females, and completion of grade 10 education.

Applicants must also have a clean record free of a crime for which a punishment is prescribed under Islamic Sharia, or theft, fraud, embezzlement, drug abuse or drug trafficking over the past five years.

They also must not have received drug rehabilitation services over the past five years, must not be a registered member of any political party, and must be physically fit enough to complete Special Constabulary training.

Interested candidates have been instructed to submit their application form to the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, the police headquarters in Male’ City, between 11:00 am and 01:00 pm on workdays.

 The deadline for applications is April 21.

The Special Constabulary or the Police Reserve Force was established in 2013.
