106 cases of violence against children reported in February

Gender Ministry has announced that it received and attended to 106 cases of violence against children in February, including 23 cases of sexual abuse. 

Gender Ministry released its case statistics for February on Monday morning.  

It shows the authority received and attended to 235 cases in February. 

106 of the cases involved violence against children, most of them involving negligence, sexual violence and witnessing domestic violence. 

While 28 of the cases involved negligence, 23 of the cases involved sexual abuse of children, 23 involved witnessing domestic violence, 16 cases involved physical abuse, six cases involved emotional abuse, five cases involved bullying and harassment, four cases involved exploitation, and one case involved cyber bullying. 

Gender Ministry also attended to 58 cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence in February. 

25 of the cases involved physical violence, 24 involved emotional or verbal abuse, four involved economic and financial abuse, two involved intimidation, one involved neglect, one involved stalking, and one involved sexual violence. 

Gender Ministry attended to 26 cases involving family issues.  

14 cases involved parenting issues, nine cases involved custody or access issues, and three involved maintenance issues. 

Meanwhile, 16 cases were reported to the Gender Ministry in February involving care and support of the elderly and persons with disabilities.  

It included 13 cases involving care and support for persons with disabilities, and three cases involving care and support for the elderly.  

Gender Ministry attended to 10 cases involving self-harm or suicidal behavior in February. 

It included four cases involving self-harming, three cases involving suicidal behavior, and three cases involving suicidal thoughts 

Meanwhile, Gender Ministry also attended to four cases involving children in conflict with the law. One case involved physical assault and aggression, while three cases involved other criminal issues.  

14 cases involving child behavioral problems were reported in February, including six cases of refusal to attend school, four 11 cases of temper tantrums, and four cases of running away from home. 

Gender Ministry also attended to one involving violation of child rights in February. It involved refusal of access to healthcare. 

There are total 193 children under state care, including 106 boys and 87 girls. One child was taken into state care in February, while one was reintegrated with her family, and one was reintegrated to the society with a job after she turned 18 years.
