MP Adam Shareef calls for action against government minister for ‘lying’

PNC deputy leader, Maduvvari MP Adam Shareef Umar submitted a motion to the Parliament on Wednesday, demanding action against a government minister for lying to parliamentarians. 

Adam Shareef stated that speaking regarding delay court cases during a meeting with the Parliament’s Judiciary Committee, Attorney Genral Ibrahim Riffath said there were people doing wrong within the police and other investigative agencies, and that it was being done in a planned and organized manner. 

He also noted that in his written response to a question by a parliamentarian regarding the allegation, Home Minister Imran Abdulla claimed there wasn’t anyone within the police institute who was deliberately doing wrong. 

Adam Shareef said that the Speaker himself pointed out that one of them must be lying.  

He called for action against the culprit for violation of the Constitution and Article 18 (a) of the Parliament’s Powers and Privileges Act.
