Physical work on the water project in HA. Kelaa has commenced today.

The project which is funded by a USD 800 million credit line facility extended by India’s EXIM Bank is undertaken on a design and built basis by the Indian Company, Vishvaraj Environment Consultancy.

Kelaa Council had shared with Sun, many concerns pertaining to the project. Kelaa Council President Abdulla Infaaz said that many issues were noted in the topography survey conducted by EXIM Bank for the project.

“Some issues we have noticed in the topography survey is the that it does not include some land plots which has been issued since 2012. In addition to this, some houses which people are currently living in, clubs, organizations and offices have not been mapped in the survey,” he detailed.

Infaaz also noted that the inch marks of the survey conducted by Kelaa Council does not match the survey conducted by the company. Subsequently, he said that the Council has requested the Ministry to verify whether it is the correct topography.

“Council has requested an online meeting with the Ministry regarding the matter. We have not received a response to any of these requests,” he had said.
