Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 1,757 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 150,337.
According to HPA, the 1,757 new cases include; 628 cases from the greater Male’ region, 815 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 133 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 2,223 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 132,872.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 17,169 active cases.
There are 52 patients in hospitals.
5,792 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,563 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 25 percent.

Maldives has recorded 283 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 397,761 people have received their first dose and 370,087 people have been fully vaccinated, and 87,676 have received their booster dose.
