Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has decided to resume routine surgeries.
As per the hospital, from Sunday, February 6 onwards, they will resume some procedures. However, the hospital did not specify which procedures.
IGMH has previously temporarily stopped some procedures due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country.
Additionally, the hospital stated that ER services will be available without any interruptions 24 hours every day.
The hospital has cut down laboratory service hours as well.
From January 30 to February 5, the lab will be open for blood tests from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm on working days.
The lab had previously been open for over eight hours.
Maldives is currently battling a surge in COVID-19 cases, fueled by the new and more contagious omicron variant. Health experts expect the cases to peak by the end of January or the beginning of February.
Currently, there are 143,202 confirmed cases, of which 17,721 are active cases. So far, 278 fatalities have been recorded in Maldives.
