Female victim of domestic violence being treated for injuries at IGMH

A woman is currently being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), after being a victim of domestic violence.

The incident was reported to the Police at around 6:20am this morning

A Police Spokesperson confirmed that a foreign woman who was assaulted by her husband at their residence in Male’ City, is currently being treated at IGMH.

Sun has not yet been able to find out the extent of the injuries of the woman.

Police said that they were investigating the case further.

Whilst a case of domestic violence has come to light from Male’ City – a man was arrested last week on suspicions of raping a woman in Hulhumale’. This case is also under investigation by the Police.

As per statistics publicized by the Police, a total of 23 cases of domestic violence were reported to them last year.
