Dhivehi Language Academy, in collaboration with VTV, has decided to host a Dhivehi language speaking competition for migrants.
At a ceremony held at the Dhivehi Language Academy today, the agreement pertaining to the competition was exchanged between the hosts. In addition to this, the regulations of the competition were also presented.
The individual coming in first place in the competition will win a cash price of MVR 10,000. Meanwhile, second place winner will win a cash prize of MVR 3,000 – and third place winner will win a cash prize of MVR 2,000.
Speaking regarding the competition to Sun, an official from Dhivehi Language Academy said that the competition will take place in the month of Ramadan. The official further detailed that all migrants will be eligible to enter the competition.
“The purpose of this (the competition) is to further familiarize migrants in the use of Dhivehi language,” the official had said.
The official added that the competition will educate migrants on the rules of Dhivehi language. The official also noted that the competition will be educational in many aspects for Maldivians as well.
Three individuals who are experts in the field of Dhivehi language has been appointed as the judges of the competition. They are Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakuru, Anwar Ibrahim and Aminath Hassan.
