Islamic Ministry establish committee to identify errors in writing Quran verses in books

Islamic Ministry established a committee to identify errors when writing Quranic verses in books.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has established a special committee to identify and correct errors when writing Quranic verses in books. 

Speaking to 'Sun', a media official from the ministry stated that most members of the committee have learnt the entire Quran by heart. 

Members of the committee: 

- Al-Hafiz Dr Mohamed Iyaz Abdul Latheef (Committee Chair) 

- Sheikh Al-Hafiz Mohamed Latheef (Committee Vice-Chair) 

- Sheikh Nasrulla Ali

- SHeikh Al-Hafiz Ibrahim Rasheed Hassan 

- Sheikh Al-Hafiz Ahamed Shafeeq

- Sheikh Al-Hafiz Ali Najeeb

- Al-Hafiz Abdulla Masood

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Zahir on Thursday met and held discussions on how the committee will function with the members. 

The media official further noted that henceforth, all books with verses from the Quran need to be submitted to the ministry for approval. 

Additionally, the ministry stated that the aim of this committee is to resolve the issue of errors when writing Quranic verses in books published in Maldives.
