Ministry of Islamic Affairs signed the agreement to build a mosque that can accommodate 500 people in F.Nilandhoo.
According to the Ministry, the project was granted to Maalaa High Rising Construction Pvt Ltd.
During the ceremony held to sign the agreement, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Zahir signed on behalf of the ministry while the Managing Director of Maalaa High Rising Construction Pvt Ltd Ali Ismail signed on behalf of the company.
Physical work is slated to commence on February 14, and the project is mandated to be completed within a year.
The ministry further detailed that the government spent MVR 11.8 million on the mosque which can accommodate 500-people and will have a separate praying area for women.
Additionally, the mosque which was designed in 2021 will be able to generate electricity by solar power to fully air-condition the interior.
