Vice President Faisal Naseem on Thursday called on schools and other educational institutions to focus on developing a good, diligent, capable and well-educated generation.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Islamic Center to inaugurate the 34th National Quran Recitation Competition, the Vice President reiterated the government's commitment to upholding and preserving the values and principles of Islam. He urged everyone to work towards instilling those values in the younger generation.

Additionally, Vp Naseem stressed the importance placed by the administration on teaching Quran and Islamic knowledge, adding that the target of a national Quran recitation competition was to encourage children to improve their recitations within the Tajweed rules.

Furthermore, he encouraged everyone to promote unity and kinship, and concluded by stating that "with the will of Almighty Allah (SWT), Maldives would continue on the righteous path of Islam and our love and respect for our religion would continue to grow stronger."
