Male’ Water and Sewerage Company’s (MWSC) Managing Director Hassan Shah has stated that all credits pertaining to the successes of the Company is deserved for its staff.
Speaking at MWSC’s Staff Award Night held tonight for the purpose of recognizing the celebrating the outstanding performances of their staff – Managing Director Shah said that awards have always been given out for staff in their recognition; a tradition which had been ceased during the past two year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shah said that the work carried out by MWSC staff despite the obstructions faced amidst the COVID-19 pandemic – was strenuous and valuable at the same time.
“Happy to point out the strenuous efforts by our staff to ensure safe drinking water and sewerage services to the public without interruption amidst the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he had said.
On this note, Shah added that MWSC staff had stayed away from their families when the pandemic was at its worst to ensure the services of the company remain uninterrupted for the public.
Speaking further, Shah noted that when the Company was inaugurated about 26 years ago, it comprises of about 60 staff. However, he said that the Company presently employees over 1,200 individuals.
“In addition to the Greater Male’ Region, this Company’s service centers have been established at K. Maafushi, R. Dhuvaafaru and HDh. Kulhdhuffushi to cater water and sewerage services. This is half of the Maldivian population,” he had said.
In addition to this, Shah said that MWSC is also notable in the fields of engineering, manufacturing and training at present, in addition to being a utility company.
Awards were presented to 87 employees in nine categories for the year 2019 and 2021 at the Staff Awards Night.
