Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Friday, announced 104 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 93,733.
According to HPA, the 104 new cases include; 20 cases from the greater Male’ region, 68 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 59 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 91,405.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,056 active cases.
There are 16 patients in hospitals.
4,610 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 911 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent.

Maldives has recorded 259 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 396,358 people have received their first dose and 366,165 people have been fully vaccinated, and 22,093 have received their booster dose.
