Mohamed Shareef, M. Sunny Coast, Male’ City, (Senco Shareef) has been appointed as the Chairman of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
Shareef was appointed to the post subsequent to the resignation of Ahmed Zaki (Nazaki Zaki) in November of last year. Zaki resigned from the post after alleging that after he blew the whistle on corruption within MPL, valued at over MVR 8 million.
The decision to appoint Shareef, who was already serving as a member of MPL’s board, was taken by the Privatization and Corporatization Board.
Shareef has served as the Chairman of former Maldives’ shipping line MNSL in 2008. From 2005 to 2011, he was also serving as a member of the Parliament.
He is also the founder and chairman of Senco Maldives Private Limited, established in 1982.
