Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has warned against consumption of ‘Dhongoyye’ brand products over poor hygiene.
In a statement on Tuesday morning, MFDA said it conducted an inspection of the facility where ‘Dhongoyye’ brand products are prepared following complaints, and found the hygiene standards to be extremely poor.
MFDA said that consumption of food produced and packed at the facility, without taking measures to raise the hygiene standards, posed a health hazard.
MFDA said that the poor hygiene at the facility had the potential for the spread of a foodborne disease.
The authority has banned the sale of the products.
