Maldives Meteorological Services (Met Office) has warned of impending strong winds and rough seas for most of the country for the next three days – strongly urging seafarers to exercise caution during travel.

In this regard, Met Office said that Maldives will be experiencing strong winds, rough seas and heavy rain at some islands for the next three days – under the influence of two low-pressure systems formed over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Therefore, Met Office has advised all to be cautious of the weather and ensure safety precautions – especially seafarers.

The low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal has caused extreme weather in neighboring Sri Lanka, with the Sri Lankan Metrological Department issuing red alert for most parts of the country.

Red alert has been issued by Sri Lanka’s Metrological Department to the northern, western, north-western and central provinces including the capital, Colombo.
