Qatar license holders OK’d for driving license without test

Qatar has been added to the list of countries where Maldives accepts valid driving licenses from, without requiring the license holders to obtain a new license for a period of 90 days.

Transport Ministry announced the addition of Qatar to the list last Monday, increasing the number of countries currently approved to 27. They are:

• Nepal
• Pakistan
• Sri Lanka
• Brunei
• Cambodia
• Indonesia
• Laos
• Malaysia
• Myanmar
• Philippines
• Singapore
• Thailand
• Vietnam
• Japan
• United Kingdom
• United States of America
• China
• United Arab Emirates
• Switzerland
• Saudi Arabia
• Belgium
• Germany
• Bangladesh
• Qatar

Transport Ministry has the discretion to accept valid driving licenses issued by foreign countries approved by the Transport Ministry without obtaining a new license for a period of 90 days under Article 33 (c) of the Land Transport Act.
