Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced the timings and the vaccination centers at which COVID-19 vaccine booster shots will be offered in the Greater Male’ Region.

Accordingly, booster shots will be offered at two vaccination centers. They are:

  •          ADK Hospital – 09:00am to 02:00p
  •          Hulhumale’ Hospital – 01:00pm to 15:00pm

COVID-19 vaccine booster shots will be administered to people above the age of 60 years and immunocompromised individuals.

Whilst Pfizer vaccine will be administered as the booster shot – for an individual to be eligible to receive the booster shot, six months must have passed from the date in which the second dose of any vaccine was received.

Appointments for booster shots can be booked through HPA’s portal

Prior to this, Health Minister Ahmed Naseem stated that health authorities were only considering the administration of a booster shot to those who have received two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine – citing that the vaccine is less effective in offering protection against COVID-19 compared to others.
