HRCM members to meet children seeking shelter at Fiyavathi children’s shelter

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has announced its decision to meet with the children seeking shelter at the state-run Fiyavathi children’s shelter situated in the suburban Hulhumale’.

This evening, the Police had patrolled the area surrounding the shelter – following reports that a group of children living in the shelter had climbed on the roof of the building and were trying to light it on fire.

An official from HRCM who was at the scene had told Sun that they were monitoring the situation at Fiyavathi – and inquiring more information about the events.

In this regard, the official said that HRCM members will be meeting the children living at the shelter tomorrow – in order to further investigate the matter.

The official always added that HRCM regularly monitors the situation at Fiyavathi.
