The First Secretary at the Indian High Commission Male’ Karan Yadav and Indian Cultural Center’s Director Dr. Syed Tanveer Nasreen have met with the President of Dhivehi Bahuge Academy Dr. Ashraf Abdul Raheem.
The meeting took place at the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy earlier this Sunday.
Ashraf told Sun that discussions during the meeting mainly focused on Dhivehi language and litrature.
“Discussions during the meeting mainly focused on Dhivehi language and the field of litrature. We discussed how the two parties can collaborate in this field,” he said.
The officials also discussed starting basic Dhivehi language courses in Indian universities and other educational institutions.
They also discussed providing assistance to conduct short courses on translation from Dhivehi language to Hindi language and from Hindi language to Dhivehi language, and in folklore and linguistics.
Maldives has always fostered strong cultural ties with neighboring countries. Dhivehi Bahuge Academy plays a key role in promoting Dhivehi language and culture in Maldives.
