Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 138 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 82,822.
According to HPA, the 138 new cases include; 51 cases from the greater Male’ region, 72 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 15 case from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 171 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 80,545.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,037 active cases.
There are 17 patients in hospitals.
5,602 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,034 from the greater Male' region.
With the 138 new infections this Sunday, 843 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 227 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years.
As of Saturday, 388,776 people have received their first dose and 319,080 people have been fully vaccinated.
