COVID-19 patient transferred to HMF from Dhuvaafaru passes away

A COVID-19 patient that was transferred to Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) for further treatment from R. Dhuvaafaru has passed away.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed the identity of the latest COVID-19 fatality as an 80-year-old Maldivian man. He passed away this afternoon at 03:35 – while being treated at HMF.

His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 227.

Patients who were transferred from Dhuvaafaru for further treatment at HMF – have passed away prior to this as well. The island presently has 101 active cases.

On Sunday, Maldives recorded 169 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the country to 81,979. 114 COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries on Sunday, increasing total recoveries to 79,683.   

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,057 active cases.
