COVID-19: 120 new cases; 2,064 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 120 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 82,099.      

According to HPA, the 120 new cases include; 30 cases from the greater Male’ region, 70 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 20 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 112 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,795.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,064 active cases.      

There are 20 patients in hospitals.      

5,228 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,849 from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 227 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Monday, a total of 398 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 298 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 386,253 people have received their first dose out of which 303,965 people have completed the second dose.
