Maldives Meteorological Services (Met Office) has warned of impending strong winds and rough seas for most of the country for the next 3-days – strongly urging seafarers to exercise caution during travel.

A Meteorologist from Met Office explained that the strong winds and rough seas are expected on August 13, 14 and 15, due to the active southwest monsoon.

Surface wind will vary between west/northwesterly at 13 – 23 miles per hour.

Scattered rain with a few heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected over southern atolls. Isolated showers with a few thunderstorms are expected in remaining areas.

In addition to this, Met Office has also warned of possible swell waves at some locations and advised to take safety precautions ahead of time.
