Health Protection Agency (HPA) has introduced a digital COVID-19 vaccine passport under the title ‘COVID Safe’, for persons who are fully vaccinated.

‘COVID Safe’ digital passport is the official COVID-19 digital vaccine passport that will be used in the Maldives by the Health Ministry. The vaccine passport will only comprise of information registered with HPA.

The introduction of the digital passport is expected to ease the difficulties faced when traveling from one location to the other. Accordingly, individuals carrying this passport will be allowed entry to places at which COVID-19 restrictions are in place – including anywhere in the Maldives without the provision of an additional document or restrictions.

covidSafe.mv used to check your latest COVID-19 safety status as a single point for you to view and digitally share your COVID-19 status.

In this regard, the website digitally verifies:

  •          Vaccination dosage
  •          COVID-19 health status
  •          Mobility restrictions
  •          Results of recent COVID-19 tests

The introduction of the digital passport comes shortly after HPA’s decision to bar unvaccinated persons from entering schools, cafés/restaurants, salons, and gyms.

As of yesterday, 80 percent of the eligible population in the Maldives have received their first dose – out of which 69 percent have gotten their second dose as well.
