Air India has announced its decision to resume scheduled flights to the Maldives.
The airline further detailed that the operations will be between Mumbai and Male’ City – starting from July 28, on all Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Consequent to the rapid spread of the delta variant of COVID-19 in South Asian countries – Maldives had closed off its borders to South Asian tourists – including Indians – back in May. The travel restrictions were eased on July 15 – to allow South Asian tourists to visit Maldives again whereas starting from July 30, they will also be allowed to make bookings at guesthouses.
At present, three airlines from India are operating flights between Maldives and India.
Indigo Airline operates flights from Mumbai and Delhi to the Maldives. Spice Jet operates flights from Mumbai and Cochin. Go Air operated flights between Bangalore and Maldives.
Moreover, the national airline of Maldives – Maldivian – operates flights between Trivandrum and Maldives.
