Man arrested for grooming, abusing child under state care

A man has been arrested for grooming a child under state care at the Kudakudhinge Hiyaa.

The man arrested is aged 25. His remand has been ordered for 10 days by the Criminal Court.

He was arrested after taking the child to his room where the child was found by police. Authorities believe the child was sexually abused. 

Police also believe that the man does things for the child and was attempting to groom the child. 

The man has stated during his remand hearing that he was aware the child was underage and had not committed any vile acts. The man said that the child often left the Kudakudhinge Hiyaa facility, and that employees of the Hiyaa were also aware of the fact. 

Police have specified that the man arrested had a criminal record of drugs and gang violence.
