Education Ministry: Schools to be conducted online for rest of academic year

The Education Ministry has announced that it has decided to conduct schools in the Greater Male' Area online for students for the remainder of the academic year. 

A statement by the Ministry issued today read that the decision was made considering the COVID-19 situation and also the advice of the Health Protection Agency (HPA). 

The decision means that the remainder of the academic year will be held online for students in schools in the Male' area. 

Schools are currently held online in the Male' area due to the situation with the virus, as well as in islands under monitoring mechanisms.

The academic year is set to conclude on June 24, with the next academic year starting in early August. 

The capital area is currently under a partial curfew while permits are required for residents to go outdoors during non-curfew hours. Government offices have also been closed due to the recently observed surge in cases.
