President Solih to hold press conference tonight regarding COVID-19 situation

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be giving a press conference tonight regarding the current situation with COVID-19 in the Maldives. 

President's Office spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez said that the President will meet with journalists regarding the COVID-19 measures in place across the nation as well as the government policy regarding the situation. 

The press conference will begin at 22:00. 

The press conference comes at a time of a massive increase in cases in the Maldives. The month of May alone has seen 71 deaths related to the virus in the Maldives with average daily cases soaring well above 1,000.

The increase in cases have also led to more enhanced restrictive measures imposed. They include the extension of the curfew in the capital as well as curfew in all islands under monitoring mechanisms.
