Gan, Maamigili under curfew due to COVID-19 situation

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a curfew in the islands of L. Gan and ADh. Maamigili due to the COVID-19 situation on the islands. 

The curfew is from 21:00 to 4:00 and was announced by the HPA last night. 

Gatherings of more than three people are also prohibited on the islands, both of which have a large population. Parties and public gatherings are also banned while salons, gyms, exercise activities, and visiting households on the islands are also prohibited currently. 

Cafe, and restaurants are also to provide takeaway and delivery services alone while taxi services are to follow HPA guidelines. University and college classes are also to be conducted online. 

In Gan, which is the largest populated island in the Maldives by area size, the HPA prohibited traveling from one ward of the island to another. 

The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the Maldives have skyrocketed recently. More than 1,000 cases were confirmed in the Maldives last night, out of which 147 were confirmed from atolls apart from the capital area.
