Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ordered private businesses in the capital of the Maldives to instruct employees to work from home instead of attending offices.

The order follows a similar order on government offices, due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases.

A signed order by the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru issued reads that private offices and institutions are only to summon employees to work physically at the office for necessary requirements. Other than that, employees are to work from home. Meetings are also to be held online, as per HPA instructions.

The order comes after measures on the capital due to the virus were enhanced. The measures include a ban on travel as well as a curfew.

The number of cases confirmed in the city on a daily basis has also skyrocketed as of recently with more than 700 cases confirmed last night alone. They include an excess of 500 cases from the capital area.
