The Maldives has recorded more than 400,000 tourist arrivals for 2021.

Tourism Ministry statistics show that the Maldives received a total of 401,361 tourists up until May 4. 11,591 tourists were recorded in the first four days of May alone.

Due to the COVID-19 situation in India, Russia has moved up to the top spot in terms of tourist arrival source markets. 22.5 percent of all tourists to the Maldives come from Russia. The number of Indian tourists, which was previously the number one market has dwindled down significantly after the Maldives restrictive measures on India arrivals. The third biggest market is the Ukrainian market while Germany comes in at fourth. Kazakhstan is the fifth biggest tourist market.

A total of 91,200 tourists were recorded last month with 109,585 tourists recorded in March.

On average, the Maldives has seen around 2,898 tourists per day. The bed nights are averaged at 9.6 days.

The Maldives currently has around 722 tourist establishments with a total capacity of 47,355.
