HEOC: COVID-19 cases in capital decreasing

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has stated that a significant decrease in COVID-19 cases has been observed in the Greater Male' Area in the last four-week time period.

In a press conference held today, HEOC spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that the number of new positive cases identified in the capital area had gone down.

"Week by week, there has been a change in the last two. Due to delays faced in testing in one of those weeks, cases also rose during that week," said Dr. Nazla, "However, the week counted up to last Wednesday in total there were 710 cases. Other than that i would like to high light that caseload in the Male' area had also gone down week by week,:

She reiterated that the cases in the capital area were decreasing steadily. 

Dr. Nazla further stated that there was a slight chance of catching the virus despite vaccinations, as more and more were receiving the vaccine, and so advised the public to still adhere to the safety measures.
