Monitoring orders on the islands of K. Huraa and Lh. Naifaru has been extended for a period of five days.

The latest extension comes after an extension of the monitoring mechanisms on the islands on March 31.

A signed directive by the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, issued last night, read that the measures were to be maintained on the islands for a further five days.

Huraa was placed under monitoring on March 23 after an elderly individual transported to Male’ City for medical care from the island tested positive for the virus.

Naifaru also confirmed cases of the virus on the same day. The positive case from the island was originally connected with the Ungoofaaru

Both islands have since confirmed a high number of cases.
