COVID-19: 167 additional cases, 86 from Male' City

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 167 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 23,838.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 86 cases from the greater Male’ region, 59 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 21 cases from operational resorts, and 1 case from an industrial island.

Meanwhile, 145 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 20,984.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,780 active cases.

There are 91 patients in hospitals.

3,493 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

66 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated 1,907 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 656 were from the greater Male’ region, and 1,151 were from other atolls.

Total 235,682 people have now been inoculated under the program; 130,376 from the greater Male’ region, and 105,306 from other atolls.
