COVID-19: 121 new infections, 105 recoveries

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 121 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 23,524.

According to HPA, the new cases include; 49 cases from the greater Male’ region, 46 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 12 cases from operational resorts, 1 case from liveaboards, and 13 cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 105 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 20,723.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,728 active cases.

There are 93 patients in hospitals.

3,728 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.

66 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.

VACCINE DRIVE

HPA stated 2,045 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. 776 were from the greater Male’ region, and 1,269 were from the atolls.

Total 232,175 people have now been inoculated under the program; 129,069 from the greater Male’ region, and 103,106 from other atolls.
