Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 165 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Maldives to 20,144.
The Maldives now has 2,605 active cases.
According to HPA, the new cases include; 132 cases from the greater Male’ region, 13 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 19 cases from operational resorts, and one case from an industrial island.
Meanwhile, 127 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 17,470. There are 186 patients in hospitals.
4,970 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.
62 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
The Maldives began mass vaccinations against COVID-19 on February 1. HPA stated that 6,550 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. According to HPA, 2,105 of those vaccinated are from the greater Male’ region, and 4,445 are from the atolls.
Total 123,665 people have now been inoculated under the program; 79,356 from the greater Male’ region, and 44,309 from the atolls.
