Health authorities, working in collaboration with Maldivian Red Crescent, have begun vaccination of undocumented migrants in greater Male’ region.
Vaccination of undocumented migrants began in the Islamic Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Red Crescent described the beginning of the vaccination of undocumented migrants as “an incredible milestone in the COVID-19 immunization work to ensure vaccine equity and ensure no one is left behind.”
While Maldivians and documented migrant workers can register for vaccine via the central my.health.mv portal, migrant workers without worker’s permit or other documents can register with the Red Crescent’s beneficiary system – an online registration system independently established and managed by Red Crescent - in order to sign up for the national COVID-19 vaccination program.
Undocumented migrant workers can contact the migrant support center in Red Crescent Male’ branch at 3307665 to register for vaccination. The center will be open from 10:00 am to 05:00 pm each day, except for Fridays.
Maldives launched its COVID-19 vaccination program on February 1, and has now administered the first shot of Covishield vaccine to over 90,000.
