COVID-19: Maldives confirms 44 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 44 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 12,854.

According to HPA, the 44 new cases include 34 cases from the greater Male’ region, while the remaining 10 cases were identified from islands under development and operational resorts. Two cases were identified from operational resorts while eight were confirmed from islands under development.

Meanwhile, 21 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 11,681.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,120 active cases.

There are 95 patients in hospitals. 

1,516 samples were tested for the virus in the last 24 hours.

236,182 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 to date.
