Deceased man tests positive for COVID-19

A 43-year old deceased individual taken to Hulhumale' Hospital today has tested positive for COVID-19 upon initial testing. 

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirmed that the individual tested positive for the virus from a PCR test conducted as per protocol.

The individual was identified as a male Bangladeshi national aged 43. According to HEOC, the individual had passed away when he was taken to the hospital.

HEOC said that it was to be determined whether the death is related to COVID-19.  

"We are yet to determine whether it is a death directly related to COVID-19." stated the HPA. The Maldives has so far recorded 39 deaths from the virus.
