Over 100 undocumented Bangladeshi workers were repatriated from Maldives on Wednesday, under a voluntary repatriation program run by the Maldivian government.
Economic Ministry’s Human Resources and Employment Department said that 152 Bangladeshi workers were repatriated under the voluntary repatriation program.
The repatriation flight, operated by national airline Maldivian, left for Dhaka on Wednesday morning.
It marks Maldivian’s 42nd repatriation flight to Dhaka.

Maldives has repatriated over 8,000 undocumented Bangladeshi workers under the voluntary repatriation program – run by the Maldivian government in collaboration with the Bangladeshi High Commission in Male’.
Maldives has a population of close to 150,000 migrant workers. Maldivian Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail has stated that while Maldives Immigration’s records place the number of undocumented migrant workers in the country at 62,000 – the actual figure is believed to be within the range of 80,000 to 100,000.
Fayyaz has announced the government plans on repatriating 20,000 undocumented workers by the end of this year.
