President postpones National Day functions due to virus

The President's Office has announced that the National Day activities planned for this year have been postponed.

The move was in light of the situation with COVID-19 in the Maldives. In a statement issued, the President's Office also said that this year’s National Awards, scheduled to be presented during the National Day Function, had also been deferred to a later date.

The announcement follows the President’s decision not to hold the annual National Day Functions due to the virus situation.

The President’s Office said that the 2020 National Awards would be presented at a special function at a later date. The date is subject to the country’s situation with COVID-19.
