A fire that broke out in a household of Th. Guraidhoo has left the residence heavily damaged.
A Council member from Guraidhoo said that the fire occurred in a house named Gaadhihfushige during the Friday prayer time.
“It happened around 11:45. We were at the mosque then. When we finished came, the fire had already been put out by locals and police working together. The fire had damaged the house beyond use when it was put out.” Said the Council member.
Reasons for the fire remain undetermined and the Council member said that no one was injured in the incident.
“A neighbor suffered smoke inhalation a bit, no one else was harmed god willing.” Said the Council member.
He added that the Council was supervising the family residing at the house and that Parliament member for the constituency had donated MVR 10,000 to the family for basic necessities. The family had been moved to another house on the island.
